Our primary aim in the U8 football is that the girls have fun. The most important thing at this stage is that the girls enjoy coming to football and want to come again.
The U8s take girls from school years 1, 2 and 3 and they all train together. Training takes place at 9am – 10am on Saturday mornings and is held at Piggott School – Twyford Rd, Wargrave, Reading RG10 8DS
The U8s do not play in league games but there is the opportunity for the U7s and U8s (Year 2 and 3 girls) to play in friendly tournaments once a month once they are ready and if they wish to participate.
Girls are very welcome to try out for a session or two before paying subs. They must be registered on-line before trying out to ensure that they are covered by the club’s insurances, we have clear consent for them to play and so that we can be informed of any medical conditions. Subs are £80 and cover insurance, kit, equipment etc.
If you are interested in registering your child, please follow this link:http://www.
Girls must wear shin pads and football boots, have their hair tied-up and wear no jewellery (remove earrings). Please also ensure that they have a bottle of water. As the winter comes it is important to send them well wrapped up to training!
We are looking for more parents to become involved in coaching. If you are interested please speak to one of the coaches or helpers for more information.
Training will be on the 3G pitch at the Piggott School. The 3G pitch is an artificial surface that needs to be looked after, so there are strict rules about footwear: (for more info, speak to one of the coaches)
Permitted 3G footwear:
- Boots with plastic moulded studs
- Astro trainers with rubber pimpled soles
Not allowed on the 3G surface:
- No trainers
- No boots with screw-in studs (either metal or plastic)
- No boots with ‘blades’ in place of studs
- No dirty shoes
We look forward to welcoming you to the U8s at Wargrave Women and Girls Football Club!
Coaches and Helpers;
