Welcome to Wargrave Women and Girls Football Club

Suspension of Grassroots Football due to Covid-19

The FA announced on Monday 16th March that all grassroots football is suspended for the foreseeable future. Because of this announcement, all Wargrave Women and Girls’ matches and training are cancelled forthwith – our insurance would be invalid even for training and we could lose our FA status if anyone tries to carry on.

The league season normally finishes in March / April each year with Cup Finals in May and Tournaments in May / June. Given the timings of 12-16 weeks minimum, it is reasonable to assume that nothing will resume this season. We do not know how the leagues will deal with unfinished leagues and cups but they may never be finished.

Below is a list of the events affected:

All training at Piggott 3G, Waingels or elsewhere Cancelled immediately
All matches Postponed immediately, probably cancelled
Assistant referee course Sunday 26th April postponed until next season
Proposed Female only level 1 course postponed until next season
Safeguarding Course - Thursday 19 March postponed until next season
First Aid Course - Tuesday 24 March postponed until next season
Club AGM and end of season awards – Sunday 3rd May – Cancelled
WWGFC annual football tournament – Sunday 17th May – Cancelled
Coaches meetings last Thursday in month (next one 26th March) – Cancelled
Officers meetings last Thursday in month – will proceed by conf call, details to be confirmed
